SBH Health System (St. Barnabas Hospital) has named Eric C. Appelbaum, DO FACOI to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Appelbaum, came to SBH Health System in a combined emergency medicine and internal medicine program in 1997 and was most recently Deputy Chief Medical Officer. He previously served SBH as Associate Medical Director, Emergency Department Director and Director of the Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency Program.
“I’ve worked closely with Dr. Appelbaum for many years and he has shown great skill in numerous capacities: as a clinician devoted to his patients, as an able communicator and as an accomplished leader.” said Dr. Perlstein. “As healthcare is changing, particularly here in the Bronx, I’m confident that he’s the right person to lead the medical staff and SBH into the future.”
Dr. Appelbaum received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and earned his medical degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he is currently a clinical assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. In 2014, he received the Bronx County Medical Society’s “Peer to Peer” Excellence in Medicine Recognition Award.
