SBH Medical Library Director Speaks On Health Education Technology

Debra Bonelli, director of the SBH medical library, was one of two speakers for National Network of Libraries of Medicine’s (NNLM) recent TechTime webinar. TechTime is a quarterly webinar open to health sciences librarians from across the United States and Canada.  The webinar was titled “Libraries Lead the Way in Presentation Technology.” She presented about the NNLM technology grant SBH received to purchase its Sharp Aquos Board-Interactive Display System.

The grant was a joint project with the Dental Department to enhance their WIC oral health education program by integrating bilingual MedlinePlus resources about caring for baby teeth and tooth decay, and adding videos for children on proper brushing. The display’s split screen feature allows for the information to be displayed simultaneously in English and Spanish. The oral health program previously consisted of a lecture and printed handouts. The grant project ran from March–June.
