Stop Tobacco
In the vanguard in smoking cessation, St. Barnabas became the first smoke-free hospital campus in the Bronx in May 2008. One year later, the hospital was honored with a plaque from the New York City Council for being proactive in leading the community as a smoke-free environment. Annually, St. Barnabas joins the national celebration of the Great National American Smokeout, and most recently our smoking cessation team joined the nation in Kick Butts Day, asking teens to STAND OUT … SPEAK UP … and SEIZE CONTROL AGAINST TOBACCO.
St. Barnabas aggressively promotes access to smoking cessation education through community outreach, patient publications and collaborations with community organizations like the American Cancer Society and Bronx BREATHES. Our smoking-cessation program is also available in Spanish.
