“The Changing Face of Immigrant Health: What the Provider Should Know,” was the focus of a well attended conference held at St. Barnabas on May 25. Experts representing multiple aspects of health care addressed the complex issues involved in providing appropriate medical care to changing immigrant populations. Speakers, including physicians, a public health official, epidemiologist, psychologist, international program director, and health literacy specialist highlighted the impact of language barriers, culture, family structure and belief systems in the delivery of health care. Cosponsoring the conference were the American Academy of Pediatrics New York District II, Chapter 3; Bronx County Medical Society, and St. Barnabas Hospital.
