St. Barnabas hosted a health fair for the Albanian community at Our Lady of Shkodra in Hartsdale, New York, on June 27, following Sunday morning mass. Father Peter Popaj extended a warm welcome to the St. Barnabas healthcare team.
In between sips of coffee and bites of burek, a traditional Albanian pastry, parishioners lined up in the church’s social room for free blood pressure screenings, teeth-brushing demonstrations, and vision exams. Parishioners also learned Tai Chi poses and received information on Fordham-Tremont Community Mental Health Center as well as the St. Barnabas Adult Day Care program.
Dr. Sulejman Celaj, Director of Cardiac Catheterization at St. Barnabas Hospital, was at the forefront of the event, conversing with parishioners and informing them of the many services that St. Barnabas offers.
