Simulation

Simulation is an integral and essential component of medical education. At St. Barnabas Hospital, we use mannequin-based simulators during clinical scenarios. Case-based simulations allow trainees to remain highly engaged and practice during interactive kinesthetic learning.

In addition to resident-specific training, our simulation team develops and executes regularly scheduled department-wide simulation cases – allowing our entire team of physicians, nurses, and technicians to practice simulation-based learning and build teamwork skills.

Our Simulation division provides a robust longitudinal curriculum over the course of the academic year for residents. Simulation sessions take place during both conference and dedicated times on off-service rotations.

Our residents have routine exposure to training in the simulation lab which includes sessions that focus on topics of Emergency Medicine Critical Care which incorporates a number of procedures, while also serving as an assessment of procedural competency.
