We’ll help you get back to your sport pain-free — and fast. Our orthopedic team provides comprehensive care for athletes of all ages, from kids to older adults. We diagnose and treat conditions including:
-
- ACL injuries and knee pain
- Bone fractures
- Concussions
- Dislocations
- Joint injuries and pain

- Sprains and strains
- Tendonitis and tendon injuries
- Tennis elbow
Although surgery may be required in certain cases, we recommend nonsurgical treatment options — like rest, anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy — whenever possible
Trauma injuriesWe treat common orthopedic injuries, like sprains, dislocated joints, fractures and rotator cuff tears.Trauma injuriesAccidents and aging can cause injuries to the joints, bones and soft tissues (muscles, ligaments and tendons) in the body. If you’ve suffered from a fall or were hurt in a car or motorcycle accident, we offer a variety of diagnostic tools and treatments to care for your injury right away.
Our orthopedic surgeons are trained in restoring function and mobility, preventing long-term disability, and treating complex injuries. Our goal is to reduce your pain and improve your quality of life. Still, we’ll only use surgical treatments if necessary. Instead, we may recommend physical therapy, rest or a supportive cast or brace.
Dedicated surgical navigatorOur orthopedic team includes a dedicated surgical navigator who helps our patients feel like family.Dedicated surgical navigatorWe want to ensure you have the best possible outcome. That’s why we have a dedicated surgical navigator on our team to help answer your questions, schedule your appointments and make sure your recovery goes smoothly.
Our surgical navigator is available to assist you both before and after your surgery, and will help connect you with education and resources so you can understand your diagnosis and treatment — including what you need to know so you can get back on your feet quickly.
Minimally invasive orthopedic proceduresWe offer minimally invasive surgeries — procedures performed through small cuts instead of a large opening — to speed up recovery and healing.Minimally invasive orthopedic proceduresWe offer minimally invasive options for many joint replacement surgeries. This allows us to target the treatment to only address the problem area. For example, knee arthroscopy (a type of minimally invasive joint surgery) uses a camera and small surgical tools to pinpoint the area that needs repair. The smaller incisions and more focused treatment may help reduce swelling and inflammation, lower the risk of complications, and restore your function more quickly than traditional surgery.
Also, many of our minimally invasive surgical procedures can be done in an outpatient setting, meaning you start recovering sooner.

Neurosurgery ServicesAt SBH, our neurosurgery team addresses issues such as tumors, spinal disorders, and traumatic injuries with precision and care. These services not only aim to alleviate symptoms and restore function but also enhance overall quality of life by improving neurological outcomes and promoting faster recoveries.
Diagnosis and treatment of brain tumorsBrain tumors can manifest through a variety of symptoms, including persistent headaches, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, and blurred vision. These symptoms often prompt a thorough evaluation to determine the underlying cause. Diagnosis and treatment of brain tumorsOur hospital’s approach involves a multi-disciplinary team comprising medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists who collaborate to provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
When surgery is necessary, our team employs state-of-the-art image navigation technology to guide precise biopsy and resection procedures. This advanced imaging ensures accurate targeting of the tumor while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue, enhancing both the effectiveness of the surgery and the patient’s overall recovery process.
Degenerative spine diseaseDegenerative spine disease often leads to persistent neck and back pain, which can radiate into the arms and legs, sometimes causing weakness in the extremities.Degenerative spine diseaseThese symptoms can significantly impact a patient’s quality of life, making everyday activities challenging. The initial treatment typically involves conservative approaches such as physical therapy and pain management to alleviate symptoms and improve function.
If these conservative methods prove ineffective, surgical intervention may be necessary. In such cases, surgical decompression, potentially combined with spinal fusion, may be recommended to relieve pressure on the affected nerves and stabilize the spine. We prioritize using less invasive techniques when appropriate, aiming to reduce recovery time and minimize the impact on the patient’s overall health.

This includes conditions such as anemia, clotting disorders, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, leukemia, lymphoma, and other cancers of the blood.
Improving quality of lifeHematologists use various tests and procedures to diagnose blood disorders accurately. They develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, which may include medication, transfusions, chemotherapy, and stem cell transplants.
Each patient’s condition is unique, and hematologists personalize treatment plans to meet individual needs. This ensures that you receive care that is specifically tailored to your health situation.
Testing your bloodBlood tests are crucial tools that hematologists use to diagnose and manage blood disorders. The most common blood test is the Complete Blood Count (CBC), which measures the levels of various blood cells: red blood cells that carry oxygen, white blood cells that fight infection, and platelets that help with clotting. This test helps identify conditions like anemia, infections, or bleeding disorders.Testing your bloodIn addition to the CBC, coagulation tests are used to assess how well your blood clots. These include tests like Prothrombin Time (PT) and Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT), which help diagnose clotting disorders or monitor the effectiveness of blood-thinning medications. Blood smears involve examining a sample of blood under a microscope to look for any abnormalities in the shape or number of blood cells. By analyzing these test results, hematologists can pinpoint issues and develop a tailored treatment plan to address your specific needs.
Bone Marrow Biopsy and AspirationA bone marrow biopsy and aspiration are procedures used to examine the inside of your bones, specifically the bone marrow, which is the soft tissue where blood cells are made.Bone Marrow Biopsy and AspirationDuring a bone marrow aspiration, a needle is inserted into the bone (usually the hip bone) to remove a small sample of the liquid part of the bone marrow. This liquid sample helps doctors look at the types and numbers of blood cells being produced.
In a bone marrow biopsy, a different needle is used to remove a small piece of solid bone marrow tissue. This provides more detailed information about the structure and health of the bone marrow. Both procedures are often done together to help diagnose or monitor blood disorders like leukemia, anemia, or other conditions affecting blood cell production. The procedures are typically performed with local anesthesia to minimize discomfort, and the samples are then examined in a lab to guide your treatment.
Lymph node biopsyA lymph node biopsy is a procedure used to examine a small sample of lymph node tissue. Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped structures found throughout the body that help filter out harmful substances and support the immune system. During the biopsy, a surgeon removes a small portion or the entire lymph node to check for signs of disease.Lymph node biopsyThis procedure is often used to diagnose conditions like infections, lymphomas, or other cancers that might be affecting the lymph nodes. The biopsy is usually done with local anesthesia to numb the area, and sometimes sedation is provided to keep you comfortable. The removed tissue is then sent to a lab where it is carefully examined under a microscope. The results help your doctor understand what might be causing any swelling or other symptoms you’re experiencing and guide the next steps in your treatment.
Chemotherapy and immunotherapyChemotherapy and immunotherapy are two types of treatments used to fight cancer, including blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma.Chemotherapy and immunotherapyChemotherapy involves using powerful drugs to kill cancer cells or stop them from growing. These drugs are often given through an intravenous (IV) line, but they can also be taken in pill form. Chemotherapy targets rapidly dividing cells, which includes cancer cells. While it can be very effective, it may also affect healthy cells, leading to side effects like fatigue, nausea, and hair loss. Your healthcare team will work with you to manage these side effects and help you stay as comfortable as possible during treatment.
Immunotherapy is a treatment that helps your body’s immune system recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. It works by boosting the immune system or helping it target cancer cells specifically. This type of therapy might involve using substances that are naturally produced by the body or lab-made agents to enhance the immune response. Immunotherapy can offer fewer side effects than chemotherapy and is often used when other treatments are not effective. Both treatments are designed to help you fight cancer and improve your overall health, and your doctor will discuss which option is best for your specific condition.
