Biography:
Dr. Smith completed his PharmD at Northeast Ohio Medical University, followed by his PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and PGY-2 in emergency medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Afterwards, he worked in various health systems including Bronx Lebanon and New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medical Center to prepare for his current position as Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at Touro College of Pharmacy and St. Barnabas Health System.
Dr. Smith’s research background is focused on developing our understanding of opioid use and prescribing, and pain management through multimodal Receptor/Channel Targeted Analgesia. He also works on developing programs to decrease risk of death in patients identified with opioid use disorder during their Emergency Department stay.
Dr. Smith’s professional affiliations include American Society of Health System Pharmacists, where he serves as a member of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists’ Advisory Group on Emergency Care. He Also actively participates in grassroots efforts with New York City Society of Health System Pharmacists and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy
