Breast Screening Comes to Bronx Neighborhoods

St. Barnabas Hospital offers a mobile mammography program that reaches out to women in the Bronx community and provides life-saving mammograms. The new mobile unit is equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology that provides safe, accurate images, faster than traditional X-rays and with less exposure to radiation. In addition to offering mammograms, the mobile mammography unit provides women with clinical breast screening and breast education. The unit can be scheduled to visit local organizations such as civic centers, senior centers, houses of worship, and other local organizations. Groups of 20 or more women per day may be scheduled for a typical screening weekday, starting at 9am.

Women over 40, who have not had a mammogram in the past year, are eligible and there is no charge for women with no health insurance coverage.
