Our Nurse Residency Program

The Nurse Residency Program at SBH Health System is available to new-hire nurses who are recently licensed or who have less than one year of acute care experience.

All new nursing hires at SBH are considered for our Nurse Residency Program. You’ll be automatically enrolled if you’re a newly licensed nurse or if you have less than a year of acute care experience.

Through the Nurse Residency Program, you’ll benefit from access to benchmarking data, an up-to-date curriculum and the opportunity to network with your peers.

The program is 12 months long and divided into four specialty branches:

  • Medical-surgical
  • Critical care/ICU
  • Emergency department
  • Maternal child
  • Behavioral health

Welcome, Curriculum, Benefits

Dear new graduate nurse,

Welcome to the SBH Health System family!

We are absolutely thrilled to have you join our team of dedicated, compassionate and innovative healthcare professionals. This is an incredibly exciting time as you begin your journey into the rewarding world of nursing, and we’re honored to be part of it.

To support you as you transition from the classroom to the clinical setting, we proudly offer Vizient’s nationally recognized Nurse Residency Program. This comprehensive 12-month program is specifically designed to guide and empower new graduate nurses like yourself during their first year of professional practice.

Throughout the program, you will participate in monthly learning sessions focused on evidence-based practices, clinical decision-making, SBH policies and procedures, and patient safety strategies. You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and mentors in a fun, supportive environment that fosters professional growth and confidence.

By the end of your nurse residency experience, you will not only have strengthened your clinical skills and leadership abilities, but you’ll also present an evidence-based quality improvement project showcasing your critical thinking, creativity and growing expertise.

We are truly excited about the fresh energy, perspectives and talents you bring to the profession. Your journey as a nurse is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact you will make on our patients, our team and the future of healthcare.

Welcome again and congratulations on taking this important step in your career. We are so proud to have you on board!

Sincerely,
Leticia Collins, DNP, MSN, RN, PCCN, CCRN, CNL
