Full spectrum of contraceptive services
We offer a program providing the best available contraceptive options to postpartum women, including intrauterine devices (IUDs) and Nexplanon implants placed right after childbirth, while you are still in the hospital. This means protection against future, unintended pregnancies for mothers who may be unable to come back to the office for their six-week postpartum visit. We also participate in programs to help educate mothers on how to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
In addition, we’re here to help our patients learn about and access all contraceptive options, such as implants, IUDs, injections (DepoProvera), oral pills, vaginal rings, skin patches, the female condom,. tubal ligations and the morning after pill.
SBH Health and Wellness Center
The SBH Health and Wellness Center makes access to a healthier life possible for people living in our community. It includes a fitness center, a teaching kitchen that offers classes to community members on how to cook in a healthy and tasty way, and a rooftop farm growing fresh produce.
The center is also home to Women’s Health and Imaging, including breast reconstruction and osteopathic therapy services. In addition, we offer classes in the teaching kitchen that are specific to helping women who are pregnant learn how to buy, grow and cook healthy meals as well as to learn and practice exercise that is special for women and pregnancy.
Prenatal and pregnancy care
Deciding to have a baby is a very special time in life, but it can also feel overwhelming. Our caring, culturally sensitive team members are here to walk with you on the journey as supportive partners. Our team includes physicians, midwives and doulas — all highly trained in their profession and all working together for your care.
If your pregnancy is considered high-risk, we have maternal-fetal medicine specialists available to offer the latest technologies and services to help ensure a successful pregnancy and delivery. We also have a Level IIIA nursery. That means we care for babies who arrive a little early or who need extra care. And we provide specialized neonatal care for these babies.
Urinary incontinence and sexual function
Millions of women each year suffer from an involuntary loss of urine, or urinary incontinence. But you don’t have to live with it. At SBH Health System, we offer many treatment options for incontinence, including medications, therapies and procedures like the urinary sling, which prevents urine from leaking.
Our generalist and our urogynecology specialists focus on treating female incontinence issues, also treat pelvic floor conditions like pelvic organ prolapse, which is when one or more of the pelvic organs drop from their position, creating a bulge in the vagina. They can also provide pelvic floor therapy and reconstructive surgery options.
Our specially trained sexual health clinicians can provide new treatments and medications
to help you to manage sexual function problems like pain during sex, decreased sexual desire and many other issues.
Gynecologic oncology and Precancer
Our generalist and gynecologic oncologists work to prevent diagnose and treat cancers of the female reproductive system. We use a procedure called a colposcopy to test for any changes in the cervix that could indicate cancer. And we can treat cervical precancer with easy in office procedure. We also use other diagnostic tests like hysteroscopies to check for polyps or tumors in the cervix and uterus.
And we use minimally invasive treatments like advanced laparoscopic procedures whenever possible — meaning smaller cuts and a quicker recovery.
Menopausal care
Our team wants to help you prevent health issues before they become problems. We’ll help you stay on top of your health as you age, ensuring you receive the screenings and immunizations you need, and you’re getting enough exercise and healthy nutrition. Screenings may include breast imaging, and bone density tests to check the strength of your bones. We also offer a variety of therapies to help with menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness, like menopausal hormone therapy treatments (MHRT) and also new non-hormonal options.
If you have osteoporosis, we’ll work with you to prevent bone loss or strengthen already weakened bones. We’ll also help you address any mobility issues and our osteopathy partners can help with associated back, neck and joint pain.
