Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (B.R.A.G.)
Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (B.R.A.G.) is a violence prevention program that provides victims ages 16-25, and their families and friends with anti-violence resources.
The program follows the Cure Violence (CV) evidence-based anti-violence model. The goal is to identify violently injured youth at risk for retaliatory violence, work with victims and their families and friends to help prevent future violence and provide linkages to resources and follow-up services.
The Program uses the Cure Violence (CV) model, which has been proven to reduce violence. We focus on supporting young people affected by violence who may be at risk of further harm. We work closely with these youth, their families, and friends to stop future violence. Additionally, we connect them with resources and ongoing services to ensure they get the help they need. Together we can create a safer community.
SBH representatives work with B.R.A.G. by identifying patients with gunshot or stab wounds in the emergency department and sharing B.R.A.G.’s wraparound services.
In addition to the HVIP, with assistance from the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), SBH operates youth programming that includes events such as back to school and safe Halloween, summer youth employment and boxing. A no contact boxing program is available for girls and boys of various ages.
