Comprehensive cancer care, every step of the way
When you hear the word “cancer,” you want answers fast. At SBH Health System, you’ll find experienced cancer specialists, advanced treatment options and a team that supports you from diagnosis through survivorship.
Our cancer program brings together fellowship-trained surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and other specialists who focus on cancer care every day. We also provide nurse navigation, social services, nutritional support, genetic counseling and survivorship resources to help you and your family throughout the cancer journey.
Our cancer services
The SBH Health System cancer team offers the full breadth of care, from screening and diagnosis to treatment and support.
Our cancer treatments include:
- Surgery, including minimally invasive surgical options
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- Radiation therapy
- Targeted therapy
If you need chemotherapy or other intravenous treatments, we have a dedicated infusion center designed to offer comfort and convenience during treatment sessions.

Cancer clinics and screening programs
We offer comprehensive care for certain cancers at dedicated clinics. For example, we have clinics for breast, colorectal and gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. We also provide screening for cancers like breast, colorectal, lung and prostate in convenient locations in the community.
Because some cancers are hereditary, we offer genetic risk assessments and counseling, including for family members.
Mobile mammography
Our mobile mammography program brings breast cancer screening directly into the Bronx community.
By making mammograms more convenient, we help more people get screened and detect breast cancer as early as possible.
Counseling and support
At SBH Health System, cancer patients have access to:
- Emotional and social support, including counseling, support groups and help connecting with community services
- Nurse navigators who coordinate appointments, answer questions and guide you through treatment
- Nutrition counseling to help manage side effects and support your health during treatment
- Physical, occupational and speech therapy
- Genetic counseling to help you understand your cancer risk and screening options
- Oncology pharmacy services for supportive and specialty medications
- Integrative therapies, such as massage, yoga, guided imagery and aromatherapy
- Self-image support, including wigs
- Financial counseling to help with insurance, medication costs and assistance programs
- Spiritual care based on your individual beliefs and needs
- Advance care planning to document your wishes for care
- Survivorship support for follow-up care, healthy living and treatment-related concerns
Survivorship care
Our survivorship team helps patients stay healthy after treatment and provides ongoing support for life after cancer. This includes help with:
- Finances
- Infertility concerns
- Internal medicine referrals
- Psychosocial stresses
- Treatment-related side effects
More than 50,000 cancer survivors live in the Bronx. We are proud to support this community through follow-up care, survivorship resources and annual events that celebrate cancer survivors.
