SBH offers palliative care for patients with advanced chronic or critical illnesses, focusing on alleviating symptoms and stress. We prioritize improving quality of life by managing discomfort, supporting decision-making, providing hope, and tailoring care plans to meet each patient’s needs and values.

Guiding You with Compassion and Comfort Through Every Stage

At SBH, our palliative and hospice care are dedicated to providing compassionate support and enhancing quality of life for individuals facing serious illnesses, focusing on comfort and emotional well-being throughout their journey.

Our care team

Each member of the team brings specialized skills to support patients and their families through the complexities of advanced illnesses. Physicians and nurses work closely to manage symptoms and provide medical care, while social workers offer crucial support with emotional, practical, and logistical challenges. Pastoral and spiritual care counselors, including clergy, are available to address spiritual and existential concerns, offering comfort and guidance in times of need.

This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive support tailored to each patient’s unique situation. By integrating medical expertise with emotional and spiritual care, our team is committed to enhancing the quality of life and providing compassionate support at every stage of illness. Together, they strive to create a caring environment where patients and their families feel valued, supported, and understood.

Palliative and hospice care

At SBH, palliative care is focused on providing comfort and support to patients dealing with serious illnesses, no matter their stage of the disease. It helps manage symptoms like pain or nausea and offers emotional and practical support to improve quality of life. We provide this care alongside curative treatments.

Hospice care is a specific form of palliative care for those who are nearing the end of their life and have stopped seeking treatments aimed at curing their illness. We focuses on making patients as comfortable as possible and providing support for their families. Our hospice care is intended to ensure the best quality of life during the final stages of life, offering support in a compassionate and comforting environment.

Our Hospice Unit

Our hospice unit provides short-term care, with an average length of stay of between seven and 14 days. Many of these patients were previously at an acute care hospital or nursing home, or need to be stabilized before returning home for in-home hospice care.

Included are both private and semi-private rooms, as well as beautifully appointed family and meditation lounges and a family kitchen and dining area. Families can spend time with their loved ones in a warm, comfortable home-like setting 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
