Our ophthalmologists and optometrists do everything from providing corrective lenses to diagnosing and treating things like cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.

We also have eye care professionals who focus on helping children. And we work hand in hand with other specialists to ensure your care is coordinated and personalized to your needs.

Our eye services

Our eye experts provide a range of services — from helping patients get glasses to performing cataract surgery. We offer laser treatments for conditions like glaucoma. And we can care for eye conditions that develop due to diabetes, such as diabetic retinopathy, which causes vision loss.

Comprehensive eye care

At SBH Health System, our eye specialists offer a full range of services, from routine eye exams to specialized surgical procedures. Routine eye exams can uncover potential issues and eye diseases, many of which have no warning signs.

Our doctors have expertise in diagnosing and treating conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cornea transplant, and diseases of the eyelids and nerves related to the eyes. We have specialists in these areas:

  • Cataract
  • Cornea
  • Glaucoma
  • Pediatric
  • Retina

24/7 eye care

There are a range of scenarios and conditions that need time-sensitive care. These may include severe cuts and scratches, burns or foreign objects in the eye. They can also involve severe eye pain or swelling, trauma to the area around the eyes, and sudden vision changes. Our eye doctors can treat eye emergencies in the emergency room or patients in the hospital who need prompt attention.

Our team is always available to you. There is someone on call 24/7 who can help if you need immediate care for an eye condition.

Dedicated pediatric eye care

Did you know that 40% of children need glasses? Diagnosing eye problems early can help reduce damage and symptoms — not to mention make treatment more effective. That’s why we have a pediatric ophthalmologist on our team and provide regular eye checks and vision treatments to children to help address problems if they arise.

Common eye conditions in children include astigmatism (irregularly curved cornea), myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness). But we can also diagnose and treat other conditions, like misalignment issues, tearing problems, traumatic eye injuries and amblyopia (lazy eye). We even offer myopia control therapy to help slow progression and prevent myopia from getting worse.

Care for complex eye conditions

At SBH Health System, we know that the eyes can give us information about how healthy the rest of the body is. They can tell us if you have diabetes, for example, sometimes before you have symptoms, as well as high blood pressure, which is a risk factor for eye conditions like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Complex eye disorders can also arise from injury.

Our ophthalmologists use the latest technologies and decades of expertise to diagnose and treat problems early. We also collaborate with your primary care provider and other specialists whenever needed.

Long-term eye condition management

Many eye conditions worsen if they aren’t treated. We help you monitor these diseases and halt their progression. And we work with your primary care provider and other specialists, like an endocrinologist or oncologist, to teach you how to manage them.

Treatments for conditions like diabetic retinopathy may include injected medications, laser therapies or surgical procedures.
