The Pharmacy Residency Program at SBH

Through the Pharmacy Residency Program at SBH Health System, we prepare residents to become clinical pharmacists. Our residents are trained in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care for patients of all ages and conditions.

We offer three different residency programs:

  • PGY1: General Pharmacy Practice Residency
  • PGY2: Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency
  • PGY2: Critical Care Pharmacy Residency

Welcome to the SBH Pharmacy Residency Program.

Dear Prospective Residency Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in our Pharmacy Residency Programs. As the Chief Pharmacy Officer and PGY1 Residency Program Director, it is my pleasure to introduce you to our institution’s robust and dynamic postgraduate training opportunities. We are proud to offer three ASHP-accredited residency programs that are designed to develop clinical expertise, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to advancing patient care.

Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program provides a comprehensive foundation in general pharmacy practice. Residents are immersed in a variety of clinical settings, gaining experience in acute care, ambulatory care, medication safety, and pharmacy operations. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, evidence-based medicine, and professional development, preparing graduates for a wide range of career paths or further specialization.

For those seeking advanced training, we offer two specialized PGY2 programs:

  • The PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program equips residents with the knowledge and skills to manage complex infectious diseases and lead antimicrobial stewardship efforts. Residents work closely with infectious diseases physicians, microbiologists, and infection prevention teams, contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives that directly impact patient outcomes.
  • The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program is designed for pharmacists who are passionate about caring for critically ill patients. Residents rotate through a variety of intensive care units, including medical, surgical, and neurocritical care, and are integral members of the multidisciplinary team. The program fosters clinical excellence in managing life-threatening conditions and supports the development of leadership and teaching skills.

Across all programs, our residents benefit from a supportive and collaborative environment, dedicated preceptors, and a strong commitment to mentorship and professional growth. We are deeply invested in the success of our residents and take pride in helping them become confident, compassionate, and innovative pharmacy practitioners.

We invite you to explore our programs further and consider joining our residency family. We look forward to the opportunity to support your journey and help you achieve your professional goals.

Warm regards,
Amanda Rampersaud, BS, PharmD, BCPS
Chief Pharmacy Officer
