Regardless of your age, allergies can consume your life. They can leave you wheezing, with shortness of breath, sinus problems, and/or skin problems, and may trigger such chronic illnesses as asthma and COPD. And, while allergies are typically associated with outdoor allergens like pollen and pollution, many people in the Bronx also suffer from indoor allergies (due to such triggers as mold, pet dander, smoke, dust mites and chemical fumes).

The services we offer through the Center for Comprehensive Care can help you. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of adults and children with the following conditions:

• Allergies
  • Food
  • Environmental
  • Drug-related
• Asthma
• Chronic sinus problems
• Eczema
• Related immunologic disorders

• Allergy skin prick testing: the skin is pricked with a small sample of an allergen. If the person is allergic to it, there will be a small reaction on the skin within 15 minutes.
• Skin patch testing: bandages with the allergen are placed on the back and shoulders. If the person is allergic, there will be a skin reaction in 48 hours.
• Immunocap blood test looks for allergy markers in the blood.
• Oral food challenges
• Allergy injection therapy
• Spirometry: measures air flow into the lungs. Lower air flow may indicate allergies.
